Saturday, May 19, 1956 - Class of 1956 Graduates

Welcome to the web site for the Class of 1956 at Danville High School, Danville, Indiana

You can visit the seven pages by clicking on the Warriors below. Each page will have its own music as well as navigation links to the seven main pages as well as to other pages of interest. This entire web site is a work-in-progress, particularly while classmates are still submitting info, so check back often. The date at the bottom of each page will tell you when it was last updated. Most of the photos are links to other pages. Finally, you can turn the music on or off, change the volume or replay it with the icon at the bottom of each web page.

I have created a skeleton structure, but you need to provide the meat in the form of pictures, letters, more pictures, old stories, memorabilia and did I mention pictures. In this digital age any picture or document can be scanned, copied or photographed, returned to its owner and then shared with classmates on this web site. It is my intention to reproduce this entire web site into a CD that can be played on either your computer or your DVD player.

The contact list (addresses, phone numbers and emails) is password protected--just think mascots for the username and principal for the password. I will endeavor to maintain an up-to-date list on this site. Once again your input is needed. The pages for the missing and the dead also need your input.

If you want to see information about classmates, select the 'Current Pictures' or the '1956 Tom-Tom' icon; if you want to see pictures which classmates have submitted, select the 'Reunions + Photos' and 'Do You Know These People' icons; if you are curious about any technical aspects of this web site, look at my FAQ page.

These pages make extensive use of JavaScript technology. This should not pose any problems if you're into the 21st century. However, you may get a warning when your browser first opens a web page. Just say 'Allow blocked document' and click yes for ActiveX. Otherwise, you will miss the good stuff. Also, most pages should load quickly, even on a dial-up connection. However, some pictures are linked to much larger versions of the same picture, so these links will be much slower to load.

As always your input is appreciated. Since I have both been in the military and married for 47 years, I am good at taking orders, criticism or suggestions !

August 26, 2009 - I sent out the last of 46 CDs today to all living classmates, the library and a few other interested parties. The News page has also been updated with some recent contacts with classmates.

July 01, 2009 - Annual DHS Reunion held at Fairgrounds on June 20, 2009. Picture of 9 attendees from Class of 1956 attached above. (Anybody have a picture of the 2008 reunion? Send it to me and I will include it.) Also, a graphic link to the Danville Community School web site has been added above. This web site now contains alumni information (click on: Schools -> High School -> Alumni)

January 30, 2008 - Judy & I have started working on her 50th DHS Reunion, scheduled for June 14, 2008. You can check out the progress at: www.pipers-place.com/58/ .

December 27, 2007 - I have added a PDF file to this website that includes the entire 143 page Reunion Booklet. This file is 84 Megs in size, so it will take 5 to 10 minutes to download even if you have a high-speed internet link. This file will allow you to view the Reunion Booklet 'electronically', and you could even print individual pages if you so desire. The file is called 143Oct11.pdf.

December 25, 2006 - OK, I've been 'away' for awhile. I finished the CD a couple months ago, but I'm not sure it is suitable for distribution to the class. So I am sending out a couple copies to my beta-testers to get some advice. Stay tuned.

September 28, 2006 - The News and Errata page now has an 'email notification' whenever it changes. Visit the News/Errata/Change/Update page (uncle.htm), enter your email, you will receive an email message to confirm your decision and then whenever I make a change, you will be automatically notified.

Also, you will notice that Ed Erner has been found (thanks to Jack Mohler), and some preliminary information about him has been added to this web site.

August 27, 2006 - The News and Errata pages are now now active. You can click on the second Warrior at the bottom of this page or just click here. I am having delays in creating the CD so it may be another month before you see it. I did get my printer fixed and have completed printing and mailing the 'charity' copies. (Note: one of these freebie booklets went to Bob Snyder, Class of 1954. You should check out his web site for a look at this 'world class' musician.

August 05, 2006 - I mailed the last of the Memory Books today. Everyone should have their book by August 9 or 10. My printer literally conked out while printing the last book. Now I have to figure out a way to get a copy for myself!
